Doyle Targets Historic Fifth Straight National 1500m Title

Cathal Doyle will bid to make history at the National Senior Track and Field Championships in Santry this weekend as he chases a record fifth consecutive men's 1500 metres title.

Cathal Doyle will look to write his name into the record books at the 123.ie National Senior Track and Field Championships in Santry on Sunday.

The Clonliffe Harriers athlete is aiming for an unprecedented fifth consecutive national men's 1500 metres title, having matched Eamonn Coughlan's record of four straight championships last year.

Doyle has returned to form this season after a groin injury disrupted his 2025 campaign and is also hoping to secure his place at next month's European Championships in Birmingham.

The men's 1500 metres is expected to be one of the standout events of the championships, with Doyle chasing another piece of Irish athletics history.
