England And Wales Withdraw Support For Infantino Re-Election As FIFA President

Pressure is mounting on Gianni Infantino after the football associations of England and Wales have withdrawn support for him.

Pressure is growing on FIFA president Gianni Infantino after both the English and Welsh football associations moved to withdraw their support for his re-election campaign.

The decision follows the collapse of plans to sell a commercial stake in the FIFA World Cup, a proposal that sparked widespread opposition across world football.

The Football Association of Wales has already confirmed it no longer backs Infantino, while the English FA is expected to formally notify FIFA that it is also withdrawing its support.

Infantino is due to stand for re-election next year for the 2027-2031 term, with his leadership now facing increased scrutiny.

More national football associations are expected to follow England and Wales in withdrawing their support.
