European Bronze For Mona McSharry In Paris

The Sligo swimmer finished third in a time of 2:22.43, behind gold medallist Evgeniia Chikunova and Britain's Angharad Evans.

Ireland's Mona McSharry has added another medal to her collection after claiming bronze in the women's 200 metres breaststrokes at the European Acquatics Championships in Paris.

The Sligo swimmer finished third in a time of 2:22.43, behind gold medallist Evgeniia Chikunova and Britain's Angharad Evans.

Speaking afterwards, McSharry admitted it wasn't the time she had hoped for but said she was delighted to come away with a medal, describing the closing stages of the race as a battle to hold on to third place.

Elsewhere, fellow Irish swimmer Ellie McCartney finished eighth in the final.
