FIFA Drops Private Investment Plans For World Cup Competitions

FIFA has abandoned plans to sell a stake in a company that would manage its major competitions after widespread opposition.

FIFA has abandoned plans to allow private investment in a new company that would oversee the commercial and operational running of its competitions, including the men's and women's World Cups.

The proposal was dropped after strong opposition from several continental confederations.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the plan had become too divisive and would not go ahead.
