He was the head of the GAA from 2012 to 2015 as the 37th President of the Association
He became the first person from Laois to hold the honour since Robert O’Keeffe (1935-38), the Kilkenny-born hurler who is honoured with the Bob O'Keeffe Cup in the Leinster SHC.
O’Neill was also a former chairperson of Leinster GAA.
He passed away earlier today aged 70 years old.
