Four people suspected of hanging an effigy of Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior off a bridge in the Spanish capital in January have been arrested.

This comes just two days after the Brazilian was racially abused during a La Liga match against Valencia.

His club have taken the case to prosecutors as a hate crime, while officials and athletes around the world have criticised Spanish football for not doing enough to stop racism.

The lights on Rio de Janeiro's iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer were turned off last night in a show of support for Vinicius.
