Everton to have new owners

Everton will have new owners after majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri  agreed a takeover deal with American investment company 7-7-7 Partners.

Moshiri's full stake accounts for over 94 per cent of the club's shares.

The Miami based company already has a number of football clubs within its portfolio - including Sevilla and Standard Liege .

The sale is expected to be completed by the end of the year following regulatory checks.

Derry City host Shamrock Rovers in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division at the Ryan McBride Brandywell tonight.

Kick off is at 7.45.

Rovers have a four point cushion over Derry in the table.

Ireland will finalise their preparations today for the World Cup clash with Tonga tomorrow.

Andy Farrell's men are bidding for a second successive win in Pool B, after last weekend's victory over Romania.

There's one game tonight, with New Zealand up against Namibia in Pool A.

Kick off in Toulouse is at 8pm.

After a weather delay due to fog, play is now underway on day two of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

Denmark's Marcus Helligkilde (pr: hell-ah-kilda) leads on 8 under par and he tees off this afternoon.

Defending champion Shane Lowry heads the Irish contingent on 3 under.

He tees off after lunchtime, as does Rory McIlroy, who is even par.

On one over par, Tom McKibbin is just outside the cut mark after eight holes of his second round.

Padraig Harrington is out later from 6 over.


HORSE RACING

A meeting at Downpatrick begins at 2.15.

There's also a fixture at Ballinrobe which starts at 3.05.
