SOCCER

Eileen Gleeson will remain in charge of the Republic of Ireland senior women's team until the end of the Nations League campaign.

The FAI say they have reached the long list stage in the recruitment process as they search for a permanent replacement for Vera Pauw.

Gleeson has already guided Ireland to two wins in their group - but won't be considered for the full-time role.

The campaign resumes later this month with two matches against Albania.

Shamrock Rovers could see their lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division cut to two points tonight.

The Hoops aren't in action, so second-placed Derry City have the chance to close the gap as they go to Drogheda United.

At Tolka Park, there's an important game in the race for European football with Shelbourne up against Dundalk.

Both matches get underway at 7.45.

The play-off race is the main focus of tonight's action in the First Division.

Wexford have the chance to book their spot if they beat Kerry.

Third-placed Cobh Ramblers host Longford, while Treaty United entertain Finn Harps.

At Lissywollen, it's Athlone Town versus Bray.

France will look to enter the knockout phase at the Rugby World Cup as Pool winners tonight.

They play their final Pool A match against Italy in Lyon.
