Preparations are continuing for the Kildare Hurlers this evening.

They play Offaly in Portlaoise at 2pm on Sunday.

This morning’s Kildare Today will preview the game at 10.45am.

The Kildare U20 hurling team play Laois this evening in Newbridge.

Throw in at Hawkfield is at 7.30.

GOLF

Padraig Harrington shot an excellent 4 under par round of 68 in difficult conditions on day one of the weather delayed Valero Texas Open on the PGA Tour.

He is one shot behind leader Justin Lower.

David Carey is 6 over par.

On the LPGA Tour, Leona Maguire is 1 over par following her opening round at the LA Open.

She is seven strokes adrift of leader Mi-Hyang Lee.

Stephanie Meadow is 7 over.


SOCCER

There are four games down for decision in the Premier Division of the SSE Airtricity League tonight.

Second placed Derry City are in Tolka Park to take on Shelbourne.

A win for the visitors would see them go level on points with leaders Bohemians, at least until tomorrow.

Elsewhere, champions Shamrock Rovers once again go in search of their first win of the season.

They're away to Dundalk while Cork entertain Drogheda and there's a Dublin derby in Inchicore between St. Pat's and UCD.

All of those games get underway at 7.45.

In the First Division, leaders Galway United are away to Athlone, second placed Bray go to Cobh Ramblers, Wexford host Treaty United and Waterford play Finn Harps.


RACING

There's racing today at Wexford and Dundalk.

The first of seven races at Wexford goes to post at 10-past-4.

While a seven race card gets underway at Dundalk at half-past-5.
