Friday Morning Sports Update

GAA

On Saturday, Kildare play Wicklow in round 3 of the Peadair O Liathain Leinster Minor Hurling Championship, in Manguard Park, Hawkfield with throw-in at 1pm.

On Sunday, the Kildare Senior Footballers play Westmeath in The Leinster Championship semi-final.

Throw-in is at 2pm, in Glenisk O'Connor Park, Tullamore.

Kfm will have full live commentary with Ger McNally & Phillie Wolfe in association with Hanlon Concrete, Robertstown.

At the same time, the Kildare Senior Ladies play Dublin in Parnell Park in the Senior Championship Round 2. 

A reminder that this morning's Kildare Today from 10.30am, and this evening from 6.25pm, Kfm will preview all of the Kildare weekend sporting action. 

 

SOCCER

Leeds United can take another step towards securing their position in the Premier League tonight.

Daniel Farke's side are six points above the relegation zone ahead of their meeting with already-relegated Burnley from 8pm.

 

There's a busy night ahead in the League of Ireland, with a full round of fixtures in the Premier Division.

Leaders St Pat's go away to Galway United, with second-placed Shamrock Rovers at home to Waterford.

Bohemians host Derry City, Dundalk face Shelbourne and Drogheda United entertain Sligo Rovers.

 

In the First Division, the pick of the ties is a derby between Cork City and Cobh Ramblers.

UCD play Longford Town, Bray Wanderers face Treaty United, Wexford take on Finn Harps and Athlone Town meet Kerry.

 

GOLF

Cameron Young leads the way after the opening round of the Cadillac Championship in Miami.

The Players Championship winner is eight-under-par and has a one shot lead over the field.

Shane Lowry will resume from level par later today.

 

Kildare's Lauren Walsh is just inside the projected cut mark heading into day two at the LPGA Tour's Maya Open in Mexico.

Walsh is level par, while Stephanie Meadow is on three-over.

Melanie Green and Brianna Do lead the way on six-under-par.

 

RACING

'Lossiemouth' will attempt to secure another Punchestown victory in the Boodles Champion Hurdle later today.

The feature goes to post at 6:40pm, with the first of an eight-race card off at 3:40pm.
