The UPMC Intermediate and Junior Hurling Championship Group Phase begins tomorrow and Sunday

Tomorrow two Intermediate games in Manguard Park Pitch 1:

Moorefield V St. Laurence's at 4pm.

Broadford V Maynooth at 5.30pm.

On Sunday in the UPMC Intermediate Leixlip play Naas at 5pm in Manguard Park Hawkfield, Pitch 1.

In the UPMC Junior Hurling Championship Group A in Manguard Park Pitch 1 Athy play Round Towers at 3.30pm.

In Clane, Cappagh play Kilcock from 2pm.

In Group B Wolfe Tones play Sarsfields in Clane at 3.30pm

The game between Ros Glas and Ratangan has been postponed. 

ATHLETICS

Mark English claimed Ireland's first-ever gold medal in a men's individual event at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham last night.

The Donegal runner came home first in the men's 800-metres final - he adds to European bronzes from 2014 and 2022.

Rhasidat Adeleke set a new national record on her way to silver in the women's 200-metres.

The Tallaght sprinter clocked 22-point-two-eight seconds in the medal race.

Another Ireland medal hopeful takes to the track this morning, with Kate O'Connor beginning her heptathlon campaign.

She lines up for the 100 metres hurdles at twenty-five-to-11, before she takes part in the high jump at 11.25am.

The men's and women's 4x400 metres relay teams are in first round action after 11am

 Andrew Coscoran and Cathal Doyle are in the first round of the men's 1500 metres from 12.05pm


SWIMMING

Mona McSharry and Ellie McCartney will both contest tonight's women's 200 metres breaststroke final at the European Aquatics Championships.

McSharry won her semi-final, while a fifth placed finish was enough to seal progression for McCartney.

Rosalie Phelan is the first member of Team Ireland to take to the pool this morning.

She's in the women's 50 metres freestyles heats from 8.30pm

Adam Bradley, Eoin Corby, Darragh Greene and Jack Kelly will be hoping to qualify from their heats in the men's 50 metres breaststroke.

Grace Davison, Lottie Cullen and Danielle Hill feature in the women's 100 metres backstroke.

Liam Custer and Jack Cassin are in the men's 200 metres butterfly, while Ellie McCartney and Ellen Walshe are in the heats for the women's 200 metres individual medley,

Daniel and Nathan Wiffen are both set to enter the men's 1500 metres freestyle heats.

SOCCER

Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley has branded last night's defeat to Egnatia the worst performance he's ever seen.

Heading to Albania with a 3-1 lead, the Hoops lost the second leg 5-1 to crash out of the Europa League qualifiers.

They will now play KuPS of Finland in a Europa Conference League playoff.

Bohemians and Shelbourne have been eliminated from the Conference League in the third qualifying round.

A spirited Shelbourne drew 2-all with Ajax in the second leg of their Conference League qualifier at Tolka Park.

But it's the Dutch side who progressed on a 5-3 aggregate scoreline.

Bohemians are also out of Europe, after a 3-2 defeat to Midtjylland in Denmark made for a 5-2 loss over the two legs.

The third round of the FAI Cup gets underway tonight.

UCD play host to Derry City at Belfield,

Galway United will have home advantage for their encounter with Bray Wanderers,

Athlone Town make the trip to the RSC where Waterford will be their opponents.

GOLF

Rory McIlroy comes into day two at the St Jude Championship in a battle to make the cut.

The Masters champion finished on four-over-par in Tennessee yesterday.

Shane Lowry goes into his second round on one-under-par.

American trio Michael Thorbjornsen, Jordan Spieth and Kurt Kitayama lead on five-under.
