GOLF

Leona Maguire and Annabel Wilson are both on one-under - and are among the afternoon starters.

While Anna Foster tees off at 12.40pm from level par.

Rory McIlroy is six shots off the lead after his opening round at the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta.

He carded 68 yesterday to sit on two-under-par, with Min Woo Lee the overnight leader on eight-under.

McIlroy is hoping to take home the FedEx Cup for the first time since 2022.

Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley says conceding "soft goals" cost them a place in the Conference League group phase.

Graham Burke's headed own goal saw them lose 1-0 to KuPS on the night in Finland.

It means the Hoops go out 2-1 on aggregate, missing out on the league phase for the first time in three seasons.

Rangers, Hibernian and Motherwell also went out in the playoffs last.

Rangers were beaten on penalties by Jablonec in Czechia.

Motherwell suffered a 7-2 aggregate drubbing at Freiburg.

Hibs had heartbreak as they threw away a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2 - with a late own goal.

Brighton qualified with a 4-nil win over Tromso.

There are four games down for decision in the League of Ireland Premier Division this evening.

Three games get underway from 7:45pm.

Bohemians welcome basement side Sligo Rovers to Dalymount Park,

Shelbourne are on the road - they take on Galway United.

While St Pat's can reduce the gap on leaders Shamrock Rovers to just one point if they get the better of Waterford.

Then at 8 o'clock, it's a Louth Derby.

Dundalk are the visitors to Sullivan and Lambe Park, as they take on Drogheda United.

Chelsea proved too much for Luton Town last night in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Danny Welbeck found the back of the net on his debut, as they strolled to a 2-0 win against the Hatters.

Fulham also booked their place in the third round - they defeated Wimbledon 3-0.

There's one game in the Premier League this evening, as Manchester City take on Crystal Palace.
