Action in the county this weekend focusses on the UPMC hurling championships weekend, beginning this evening.

In the Senior Hurling Championship Group A in Cedral St. Conleth’s Park, Ardclough play Clane from 7.45pm.

In the Reserve A Hurling Final in Manguard Park Pitch 1, Celbridge play Eire Og Corra Choill from 8pm.

In the Reserve B Hurling Final in Manguard Park Pitch 2, Moorefield play Naas from 7.30pm

On Saturday

In the Senior Hurling Championship Group A Venue: Cedral St. Conleth’s Park, Coill Dubh play Eire Og Chorra Choill from 4.45pm

In the Intermediate Hurling Championship, Group Phase

In Cedral St. Conleths Park, Leixlip play Moorefield from 3pm.

In Manguard Park Pitch 1, Broadford play Naas 4.30pm.

Then from 6pm in Manguard Park Pitch 1, Maynooth play St. Laurence’s

In the Junior Hurling Championship Group A

In Cappagh, Cappagh play Round Towers

And in Kilcock, Kilcock play Athy

Both games throw-in at 6pm.

In Group B

In Sarsfields, Sarsfields play Ros Glas

In Sallins, Wolfe Tones play Rathangan

Both games throw-in at 6pm.

On Sunday

In the Senior Hurling Championship Group B in Cedral St. Conleth’s Park, Confey play Maynooth from 1pm, and Celbridge play Naas from 2.45pm.

A reimnder that this morning’s Kildare Today with Hannah Kelly will preview the games, and also this evening’s Kildare Scoreboard from 6.25pm, will preview all the weekend Kildare sport.

GOLF

Shane Lowry is two shots off the lead heading into his second round at the Irish Open.

He begins the day tied for second on three-under-par, and tees off at 9:40 this morning.

After a challenging opening round yesterday, it's a 9:30 start for Rory McIlroy, who carded a one-under-par 69 on Day One.

Tom McKibbin tees off from two-under at 9:10, with Padraig Harrington resuming from one-over at 1:45 this afternoon.

SOCCER

A top-of-the-table clash headlines the action in the League of Ireland Men's Premier Division.

Six points separate leaders Shamrock Rovers and second-placed St Pats, ahead of their meeting at Richmond Park.

In the other games tonight, Drogheda United welcome Sligo Rovers, Shelbourne host Derry City,

Bohemians travel to Galway United, and Waterford face Dundalk.
