Ireland Get First Win In WXV As Parsons Makes History Against Japan

Béibhinn Parsons scored twice to become Ireland’s all-time leading try scorer, moving to 24 Test tries.

Ireland have returned to winning ways in the WXV Global Series with a 31-24 victory over Japan in Galway.

Brittany Hogan also crossed twice, while Aoife Dalton added Ireland’s other try.

Ireland had built a 19-0 lead before Japan fought back, with discipline again proving an issue for Scott Bemand’s side.

Japan closed the gap to five points late on, but Parsons’ second try helped Ireland finally pull clear before a late Japanese score.

The two sides will meet again in Cork next week.
