An Irish boxer is said to be “fighting for his life” in a Belfast hospital following his bout at Ulster Hall on Saturday night.
Galway native John Cooney lost his Celtic title defence at the weekend with a technical knock-out to Welsh fighter Nathan Howells.
The 28-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution afterwards but it has since been confirmed that he required surgery to relieve pressure on his brain and he's now in ICU.
