James McCarthy To Captain The Dublin Footballers In The Championship.

He will assume the role from Johnny Cooper.

James McCarthy is set to captain the Dublin senior footballers in this year's championship.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner will assume the role from Jonny Cooper, who led the side in last year's campaign.

Dublin begin the defence of their Leinster title this Saturday against Wexford.

Elsewhere, tonight is semi-finals night in the Munster under-20 hurling championship.

Defending champions Cork play Tipperary at FBD Semple Stadium.

While the Gaelic Grounds is the venue for the meeting of Limerick and Waterford.
