Kildare, Wicklow, Fermanagh and Limerick Await Quarter Final Opponents

Kildare defeat Sligo by four points in Round 3 clash yesterday afternoon.

GAA
Kildare played Sligo in Round 3 of the Tailteann Cup yesterday afternoon.

The full time score was Kildare 4-19, Sligo 1-24.

New York will be aiming to reach the quarter finals of the Tailteann Cup this weekend.

They enter the tournament with a trip to Offaly in the Preliminary Quarter Finals which are set to be played on Saturday and Sunday.

Elsewhere, Carlow come up against Sligo, Wexford play host to Antrim and Westmeath clash with Laois.

Kildare, Wicklow, Fermanagh and Limerick all await the winners of those ties in the last 8.

SOCCER
Drogheda United’s return to European football is under threat due to UEFA rules on club ownership.

The County Louth side, who qualified for the Europa Conference League by winning the FAI Cup last November, now face uncertainty after Danish club Silkeborg also secured a spot in the same competition.

Both clubs are owned by the US-based Trivela Group, along with English side Walsall.

UEFA regulations prohibit clubs with shared ownership from competing in the same tournament.

Drogheda say they are in talks with UEFA to resolve the issue ahead of the second qualifying round draw on June 18.

TENNIS
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has set up a last-eight clash with Tommy Paul in the French Open tennis.

The number two seed needed four sets to get past another American, Ben Shelton at Roland Garros.

In the women's draw, title-holder Iga Swiatek came from a set down to win against Elena Rybakina and will next face Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.

British number one Jack Draper is in quarter-final action against

Alexander Bublik this afternoon, after Cameron Norrie takes on Novak Djokovic.

RACING
The Listowel races continue this Bank Holiday Monday.

The first of the 7 racecard goes to post at 5-to-2.

Before that, Gowran Park hosts an 8 racecard which kicks off just after half past 1.
