Kildare lost 0-10 to 1-16 against Kilkenny in the Leinster U20 Hurling Championship.
Kildare's under-20 hurlers produced a brave and encouraging display against Kilkenny in Round 1 of the Leinster Championship, but ultimately fell 0-10 to 1-16 at the hands of the reigning Leinster powerhouses.
Under the guidance of legendary player and manager Henry Shefflin, Kilkenny pulled clear at the end of the second half after a competitive opening, showcasing the experience and composure that has long defined the Cats at underage level.
For Kildare, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance despite the defeat, with a young squad showing belief and attacking intent against one of the province's toughest sides.
The challenges continue as Kildare prepare to face Galway, who will provide another stern test.
