League of Ireland third tier format confirmed.
The FAI has confirmed the format for the upcoming new third tier of the League of Ireland, which is set to begin in August of this year.
Fifteen clubs will take part in three groups of five, with teams playing each other both home and away. The three winners of the groups will advance
to the semi-finals, with the last place going to the best performing runner-up.
Among the clubs playing will be Leinster senior league side Newbridge Town in a group with CK United (Carlow/Kilkenny), Killarney Celtic, UCC and Villa FC (Waterford)
