Local Weekend GAA Round Up: Wins For Senior & Minor Hurlers

Elsewhere, Leinster GAA has announced a major initiative to support and celebrate the next generation of GAA players

 

Kildare hurlers are heading to Croke Park for their first ever Joe McDonagh Cup final after their win over Down at Cedral St Conleths Park on Saturday.

Final score: Kildare 1-26 Down 1-14.

This morning's Kildare Today will review the game, while this evening's Kildare Scoreboard from 6.25pm will do likewise, including interviews with players Simon Leacy and Cian Boran, and manager Brian Dowling

Kildare will play Laois in the final in two weeks time in Croke Park.

An injury time Laois goal on Saturday gave them a 1-20 to 2-17 draw with Carlow and a place on scoring difference in the final.

Leinster GAA has announced a major initiative to support and celebrate the next generation of GAA players, offering up to 20,000 free tickets for underage teams to attend the Leinster & Joe McDonagh Cup Finals.

Eligible groups must consist of a minimum of 10 children (U14 or younger), and must be accompanied by at least two supervising adults per group (1 adult per 10 children).

Applications must be submitted by Club Secretaries no later than 12pm on Wednesday, 4th June 2025.

Kildare minor hurlers beat Kerry in Limerick on Saturday by 2-17 to 2-13 in the Celtic Challenge Jerome O'Leary semi final.

They will play Armagh in the All Ireland final.

Yesterday, the county minor footballers beat Leitrim in Hawkfield in the quarter final of the Paul McGirr Cup.

Final Score: Kildare 3-16 Leitrim 2-10

Round 9 of the Hanlon Concrete Senior Football League took place on Saturday.

Sarsfields remain top of Division 1 on score difference from Maynooth.  Johnstownbridge head Division 2 from Milltown and Round Towers;  Ellistown lead Division 3 ahead of Caragh. Robertstown top Division 4 with Ballymore 2nd.

We'll have the full results and League tables in this evening's Kildare Scoreboard from 6.25pm, along with the Groups for this years senior, intermediate and junior football championships.
