Mixed Weekend For Kildare GAA & LGFA Teams

The hurlers and women's footballers enjoyed success, while the men's football team were beaten

It was a mixed weekend for Kildare GAA teams over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, the Kildare hurlers retained their Kehoe Cup title with a 1-22 to 1-19 win over Meath.

That makes it three wins from three for the hurlers so far this year, as they look ahead to their league opener against Meath next Sunday.

The Kildare senior footballers suffered defeat in their Division 2 opener, losing out to Cavan at Netwatch Cullen Park.

The full time score was Cavan 0-16 Kildare 0-12.

Next up for the Lilywhites is a trip to Fermanagh in Round 2 on Saturday.

The Kildare ladies footballers made it two wins from two in their Division 2 campaign against Donegal yesterday.

Roisin Byrne's second half goal secured a 1-8 to 1-4 victory in Letterkenny.

Next up is an away trip to Cavan on Sunday.
