Mona McSharry Misses Out On Final Place At The World Aquatics Championships

The Sligo swimmer recorded the fastest time in the heats this morning but failed to make it into the final

Despite being the top seed, Mona McSharry hasn't made it to the women's 100-metre breaststroke final at the World Aquatics Championships.

The Sligo swimmer recorded the fastest time in the heats this morning but finished 6th in her semi-final and 11th overall.

In the women's 200-metre individual medley final, Dubliner Ellen Walshe came home in 8th position.

Evan Bailey was 16th overall in the men's 200-metre freestyle but the Wexford man equalled the national record of 1-minute-46.66 seconds in his heat.
