Monday Morning Sports Update

GAA

Kildare footballers went to Cork on Saturday in need of league points, but incurred a 9 point defeat.  

Cork led by 16 points at half time 1-22 to 1-6,  Kildare's first half goal by Brendan Gibbons.

Against the wind, Cork had a 14 points lead after 50 minutes, then Jack Robinson's 51st minute goal began the Kildare fight back.

In the closing stages, 4 Kildare goal efforts were saved, along with a saved penalty

Next up for Kildare is their final Division 2 game home to Louth next Sunday at 1.15pm.

 

On Saturday, Louth beat Derry 1-19 to 0-18 points. 

A win for Louth next Sunday could promote them and a place in the Division 2 final.

Yesterday, Offaly lost to Cavan by 3-15 to 2-20 and are relegated.

 

Kildare’s survival in Division 2 depends on a win against Louth and for Derry to win at home to Cavan, also at 1.15pm

Cavan have 4 points, Kildare are on 3, and the sides have identical score difference of minus 20.

 

Waterford have been relegated to Division One B of the National Hurling League after a 2-24 to 1-23 defeat to Tipperary.

Next Saturday the Kildare hurlers have their final Division 1B game away to Wexford at 5pm.

Kfm will have commentary of both the hurling and football games in association with Hanlon Concrete, Robertstown

 

The Hanlon Concrete Senior Football League began on Friday: a number of games were postponed.

We’ll have the results in our 1pm bulletin and also in tonight’s Kildare Scoreboard from 6.25pm. 

 

In the Centra Camogie League Division 3A,  Kildare were home to Roscommon on Saturday with a final score of Roscommon 1-8 Kildare 0-9

Kildare stay top on score difference.

Next up for Kildare is home to Tyrone next Sunday

 

SOCCER

Manchester United moved up to third in the Premier League following a 3-1 win over top-four rivals Aston Villa

Liverpool and Spurs drew 1 all

Nottingham Forest are outside the bottom three on goal difference after a goalless draw with Fulham.

Crystal Palace drew nil all at home to 10-man Leeds, who missed a penalty 

 

RUGBY

Ireland Rugby Under 20’s have em-ulated the senior team by winning the Triple Crown

Yesterday, they scored seven tries in a 47-14 bonus-point victory over Scotland in Cork.
