Monday Morning Sports Update

GAA

The draw's been made for the third round of this year's All Ireland Senior Football Championship.

Reigning champions Kerry will welcome Ulster kingpins Armagh to Killarney.

Donegal will make the trip to Dublin, and Dubs manager Ger Brennan is hoping they'll be able to use Parnell Park for that tie.

Meath will head west to take on Mayo, while Monaghan are up against Westmeath in Clones.

The winners of those ties will then face Cork, Louth, Galway or Tyrone in this year's quarter finals.

Those teams secured their passage to the last eight, thanks to their wins in Round 2A.

the semi-finals have been drawn in the Tailteann Cup.

Down are up against Fermanagh, while Offaly will take on Wicklow.

Both of those games will be played at Croke Park.

 

SOCCER

Cape Verde will make their World Cup debut this evening in Atlanta.

Shamrock Rovers captain Roberto Lopes will be among those to square off against Spain from 5pm.

Seattle plays host to the clash of Egypt and Belgium, before the meeting of Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Miami.

Overnight, Amad Diallo was the difference maker for Ivory Coast, as they beat Ecuador 1-0 thanks to the Manchester United winger's last minute goal.

While Sweden kicked off their campaign in style, easing past Tunisia with a 5-1 win - Liverpool's Alexander Isak and Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres found the back of the net for Graham Potter's side.

 

Iran have arrived in LA ahead of their opener with New Zealand tomorrow.

The team are based out of Tijuana in Mexico for the tournament, following concerns over visas - which have affected staff and officials.

Yesterday, Iranian captain Mehdi Taremi said that political tensions have "undermined" their World Cup experience.


TENNIS

Emma Raducanu hopes she's getting back towards her best, despite falling short in the Queen's Club tennis Championsh

The former US Open winner was defeated by Donna Vecik in yesterday's final.

With Wimbledon edging closer, the 23 year old will be hoping to win her first title since 2021.

While the men's tournament gets underway today.

French Open semi-finalist Jakub Mensik is among those on the court in the doubles this afternoon.

 

DARTS

Luke Littler is aiming for a clean sweep following yesterday's World Cup of Darts win.

He was paired with World Number Two Luke Humphries for England, who Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen of the Netherlands in the final.

The 19 year old is yet to win the European Championships, which will take place this October.

Ireland's Mickey Mansell and Willie O'Connor were eliminated at the quarter final stage yesterday.
