GAA

Galway have bridged a 22-year gap to land their second-ever All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football title.

A 58th minute point from Eva Noone was the difference between the teams, as Galway held on for a 2-7 to 12-points win over Kerry, with Leanne Coen scoring both goals.

There was drama in the closing stages as Kerry captain Síofra O'Shea's two-point effort from a free dropped short and ended up in the net, but the goal was disallowed due to a square-ball.

Soccer

There were three games in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division yesterday.

Waterfood boosted their survival hopes with a 1-nil win over Shelbourne.

It finished 1-all between St. Pat’s and Derry City, while Bohemians were also held to a 1-all draw by Galway United.

The results leave St Pat’s and Bohemians seven points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers, with Waterford now three points clear of bottom side Sligo Rovers.

Cork City are through to the semi-finals of the Club Orange Women's FAI Cup, following a 1-nil victory at Douglas Hall.

They join Shelbourne, Galway United and holders Athlone Town in the last-four.

Wales has become the first Football Association to officially withdraw support for Gianni Infantino’s re-election as FIFA President for the 2027-2031 term.

It follows the loss of confidence in his leadership after his attempt to sell off stakes in the World Cup.

And in Scotland, Celtic boss Martin O'Neill says he's expecting a "difficult challenge" in their Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee this evening at 7.30pm.

After last season's dramatic final day title triumph, the Hoops are hoping to land their fifth straight Scottish crown this year.

Golf

In golf, Japan’s Shiho Kuwaki claimed her first major title after winning the AIG Women’s Open.

There was no Irish interest in the final round, with Leona Maguire, Lauren Walsh, and Anna Foster all missing the cut.

Meanwhile, Pádraig Harrington finished third at the Portugal Invitational.

The Dubliner ended the tournament on 15-under-par, four shots behind winner Zach Johnson, after another strong showing on the Champions Tour.

Tennis

Conor Gannon has become the first home winner of the Irish Open tennis since 2018.

The Dubliner overcame Estonia's Markus Molder by two sets to one in the final at Carrickmines.

Racing
