Final Score in Manguard Park was Kildare 1-12 Tyrone 0-5.

Kildare progress through to play Wexford in the semi final which will be played in 2 weeks time at a neutral venue.

In Round 5 of the All Ireland Masters football Championship Kildare lost to  Mayo by 2-08 to 1-10 in Swinford.

Lee Carsley is set to hold talks with the English FA about his future as under-21 manager.

The former Republic of Ireland international guided England to the European title at the weekend after a 1-0 win over Spain in the final.

It's understood a number of clubs are interested in acquiring Carsley's signature, but the FA are believed to be keen to keep him as U21 manager.

Aine Donegan says she had to battle illness on the final day of the US Women's Open.

The Clare amateur missed out on the silver medal by a single shot, having finished on nine-over-par at Pebble Beach.

Donegan was battling flu-like symptoms on her way to a final round of 77.

Leona Maguire ended the week on seven-over, with Allisen Corpuz  the winner by three shots on nine under.

Runaway Formula One World Championship leader Max Verstappen extended his advantage at the top of the standings to 99 points yesterday.

The Red Bull driver made it six straight race wins with victory at the British Grand Prix.

Verstappen was joined on the podium at Silverstone by Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, who finished second and third respectively at their home event.
