In Kildare's Group 3, Roscommon were 1-21 to 1-11 winners over Sligo at Doctor Hyde Park.

Mayo beat Louth by 0-14 to 1-10 in Castlebar.

Monaghan beat Clare by 1-23 to 1-18 in Clones.

Derry went to Ballybofey and beat Donegal by 3-14 to 1-15.

In round 3 of the Tailteann Cup, Wicklow beat Limerick by 2-14 to 1-10 in Portlaoise.

Carlow defeated Longford by 2-13 to 1-14 at O'Moore Park.

Antrim got the better of Fermanagh by 3-13 to 1-12 at the Athletic Grounds.

And Wexford were 1-16 to 1-12 winners over Leitrim at Parnell Park.

The draw has been made for the preliminary quarter finals of the Tailteann Cup.

Offaly will host Wexford.

Fermanagh will be at home to Laois.

Longford will travel to Down.

Carlow will welcome New York.

Meath, Cavan, Limerick and Antrim are already into the last eight.

The matches will take place next weekend.

Cork and Clare won the All Ireland underage titles in hurling at Semple Stadium.

The young Rebels beat Offaly by 2-22 to 3-13 to take the under 20 crown.

Cork player Ben O'Connor confirmed after the game that he will be concentrating on rugby going forward.

Clare won the minor final, overcoming Galway by 2-22 to 4-11.

Shamrock Rovers will look to cement their place at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division tonight.

The Hoops have a one-point lead at the top of the table as they travel to Sligo Rovers for a 6 o'clock kickoff.

Second-placed Derry City are away to St Pat's at 6:45pm

Elsewhere, Dundalk host UCD, Cork City take on Bohemians and Shelbourne play Drogheda United.

Golf

Irish golf has a new champion.

20 year old Tom McKibbin, in his rookie season on the DP World Tour, won the European Open in Hamburg.

A final round of 70 gave McKibbin a tournament total of 9 under par and a two shot victory.

He collects a cheque for €315,000 and earns playing privileges for next season.


Tennis

Women's top seed Iga Swiatek faces Lesia Tsurenko in the last 16 of the French Open in Paris today.

Sixth seed Coco Gauff plays Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

In the men's singles, last year's finalist Casper Ruud is up against Nicolas Jarry, with sixth seed Holger Rune to meet Francisco Cerundolo.
