Róisín Sweeney, from Naas, made history on Saturday afternoon at Kirkistown, in Northern Ireland, winning the Formula Sheane race.
The 22 years old aerospace engineer and also a former Motorsport Ireland Karting Champion, moved to car racing with a Global GT sportscar two years ago
This year, she moved to the Formula Sheane class. The cars, built by Sheane Cars in County Wicklow, are capable of reaching speeds of over 140mph and can accelerate from 0 to 100kms in under four seconds.
Two weeks ago, Róisín scored a podium finish at the Leinster Trophy race meeting at Mondello, where she works part time as a race instructor
