Newbridge Town's first home game in the new FAI National League ended in a 5-1 defeat to Villa FC at Station Road on Saturday.
The landmark fixture, played in front of a strong local crowd and FAI President Paul Cooke, saw Newbridge create a number of chances despite the eventual four-goal margin.
Villa took a 2-0 lead through Conor Kilgannon and Adam Conway before Alex Akinrintoyo pulled one back for Newbridge late in the first half.
However, Cian Browne restored the visitors' two-goal advantage before the interval.
