The opening ceremony takes place today.

Protestors have gathered outside Tokyo's Metropolitan Government Building - showing their opposition to the Olympics.

The opening ceremony for the Games takes place this lunchtime - following a year's delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But with Covid cases still high in Japan's capital city, some residents aren't happy

'Go home Bach,' "you're not welcome here' and 'cancel the Olympics,' were among the messages displayed during IOC President Thomas Bach's one-day visit to Hiroshima on Friday.#Tokyo2020 #ThomasBach https://t.co/Q6DBLprMXP
