Rory McIlroy begins his latest attempt to reclaim the Open Championship this afternoon.

The Masters champion last lifted the Claret Jug in 2014, and tees off at Royal Birkdale at 3:15.

His Holywood clubmate Tom McKibbin is now two-over-par midway through his opening round at Royal Birkdale.

Cork amateur David Howard is just out on course.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler is among the leading group on three-under.

There's a 12:15 start for reigning Amateur Open champion Stuart Grehan, while 2011 winner Darren Clarke is out 32 minutes later.

Padraig Harrington has a 1:20 start to his opening round today, and Shane Lowry tees off just after 2:50.
