The opening fixtures sees Bolton Wanderers home to Preston North End from 12.30, while six games kick off at 3 o’clock, including Bristol City against Millwall, Charlton Athletic versus Derby (Dar-bee) County, Norwich City at home to West Brom, and Stoke City against Swansea.
The opening day concludes this evening, with Sheffield United playing Birmingham City at 5.30.
Golf
In golf, Scottie Scheffler has a three shot lead into today's third round at golf's Saint Jude Classic.
The world number one moved to the top of the leaderboard at the FedEx Play-Offs event on 11-under-par with a second-round 61 last night.
Rory McIlroy had bogeys on the 17th and 18th holes as he slipped back to four-over-par at the midway point of the tournament, while Shane Lowry comes into the weekend at one-over.
Kildare’s Lauren Walsh remains competitive at the Portland Classic, despite slipping back in the 2nd round.
After opening with a six-under 66, Walsh carded a one-over 72 to sit tied for 36th on five-under, seven shots off the lead heading into the weekend.
Racing
