The KPMG Women’s Irish Open is in full swing at the K Club this morning, with six Irish players through to the weekend.

Kildare’s Lauren Walsh has recovered brilliantly from an early triple bogey in her third round, responding with three back-to-back birdies to move to two-under-par, alongside fellow Irishwoman Aine Donegan.

Leona Maguire is the leading Irish player with five-under after two back-to-back birdies in her opening three holes in the third round, while Canice Screene is also five-under and tees off at half-eleven.

Anna Foster is three-under after making a solid start to her third round.

At the top of the leaderboard, South Africa’s Casandra Alexander continues to lead the tournament on 15-under-par.

Soccer

In the League of Ireland Premier Division, Bohemians remain level on points with St Pat’s after a comfortable 3-nil win over Sligo Rovers last night.

While St. Pat’s missed the chance to move closer to league leaders Shamrock Rovers after a 2-nil home defeat to Waterford.

Elsewhere, Dundalk beat Drogheda United 3-2, while Galway United and Shelbourne drew 1- all.

The long-awaited FAI National League gets underway this afternoon.

The first fixture sees CK United home to Newbridge Town in Group 3 at 1pm.

Then four other games are taking place this weekend, with Mervue United playing Cockhill Celtic and Bonagee United home to Home Farm DCU in Group 1. In Group 2 Salthill Devon play Letterkenny Rovers and Mayo play St. Francis in Castlebar.

In the Premier League, Man City have went top after a 4-1 win away to Crystal Palace last night.

Today’s action gets underway at half-past 12 as Liverpool are at home to Nottingham Forest.

At 3 o’clock, Hull play Coventry, while Bournemouth play Everton.

And the day’s standout fixture sees Spurs play Newcastle from half-past 5.

American Football

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic returns to Dublin this afternoon.

The TCU Horned Frogs take on the University of North Carolina's Tar Heels at the Aviva Stadium.

Down native Adam McCann Gibbs could make his college football debut for the Tar Heels, who are coached by former New England Patriots boss Bill Belichick.

That game gets underway at 5pm.

Racing

And racing today is at the Curragh from 1.18.
