Limerick and Galway contest another All Ireland Hurling Semi Final

GAELIC GAMES

The All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi Final get underway this evening.

Limerick and Galway go head to head for a place in the final for the second year running.

The Treaty County were 3 point winners at the same stage last year, and beat the Tribesmen 0-24 to 0-19 in this year’s Allianz League.

Throw in at Croke Park is at 6pm.

The All Ireland Senior Camogie quarter-final between Antrim and Tipperary is the curtain raiser.


Maynooth and Sallins go head to head in the Hanlon Concrete Senior Football League Division 2 tonight.

St. Laurence’s meet Allenwood, Kilcullen play Kilcock and Two Mile House face Round Towers

All the games start at 6.00.

In Division 3 Rathangan play Ballyteague, Monasterevan -  St Kevin’s, Straffan -Caragh and
Ballymore Eustace – Ellistown.

Manguard Park is the venue for this afternoon’s  Tom Cross Transport Junior Football Championship Group A games between Grangenolvin V Milltown, and Castlemitchell and Rathcoffey.


SOCCER

Shamrock Rovers remain 4 points clear at the top of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division despite a nil all draw with Drogheda United last night.

Second place St Patrick’s Athletic conceded an injury time goal to draw 1 all with Cork City.

Derry City are level on points with Pats following a 2-1 win over Sligo.

Bohemians came from 2-1 down to beat Dundalk 3-2 at Dalymount.

While Shelbourne defeated UCD 4-nil at Belfield.


TENNIS

Novak Djokovic moved into the last-16 at Wimbledon last night courtesy of a straight sets win over Stan Wawrinka.

Women’s fifth seed Caroline Garcia was beaten in three sets by Marie Bouzkova.

Men’s top seed Carlos Alcaraz is back in action this afternoon, he’s in the first match on Centre Court against Nicolas Jarry

Defending women’s champion Elena Rybakina plays British wildcard Katie Boulter.

And last year’s beaten finalist Ons Jabeur goes up against 2019 US Open winner Bianca Andreescu.
 

GOLF

Leona Maguire is in a tie for fifth at the midway point of the US Women's Open at Pebble Beach.

The Cavan native shot a second round 74 and sits on one-under-par, six strokes behind leader Bailey Tardy.


RACING

There is racing at Naas this afternoon.

The first of the seven race card gets underway at 2.10.
