A busy day in the Club Football Championships

GAELIC GAMES

There were wins for both Clane and Athy in the Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship last night.

Clare recorded a 2-15 to 1-06 victory over Confey, while Athy ran out 3-19 to 1-07 winner over Moorefield.

The Preliminary Round continues this afternoon.

At 2.00, Carbury play Eadestown in Round Towers.

Manguard Park is the venue for the match between Clogherinkoe and St. Laurence’s

Ger McNally will also report on the match between  Clane-Maynooth and Ballyteague, which throws in at 3.45.

Naas and Johnstownbridge and Raheens and Celbridge meet at 6.00.

Sallins and Two Mile House contest the first of day’s Auld Shebeen Athy Intermediate Football Championship Preliminary Round ties.

That throws in at 2.00, followed by the meeting of-Nurney and Castledermot

6.00 is the start time for the match between Kilcullen and Rathangan.

Allenwood defeated Straffan by 1-21 to 3-11 last night.

Leixlip were 1-17 to 0-06 winners over Ellistown.


The lineup for this year's All Ireland Senior Ladies Football Final will be decided this evening.

First up, Kerry take on Mayo for a spot in the decider with throw in at Semple Stadium at 5pm.

Following that, old rivals Cork and Dublin face off at 7:30pm.

 

The Kildare Under 15 Camogie team are aiming for an All Ireland title this afternoon.

They take on Derry in the final in Iniskeen GAA Centre of Excellence, Co. Monaghan  at 1 o’clock.

The Cavan woman sits on 1 over par following a disappointing second round of 73 yesterday and is 8 shots off the lead.

Stephanie Meadow is two shots further back after shooting a 76 on Friday.

Frenchwoman Celine Boutier leads by one shot on 7 under par.
