Sligo Strike Late To Earn Valuable Point At Dundalk

A stoppage-time equaliser denied Dundalk all three points as Sligo Rovers rescued a 1-1 draw at Oriel Park.

Sligo Rovers grabbed a dramatic late equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw away to Dundalk in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.

Daryl Horgan put the hosts in front early in the second half with the 100th club goal of his career, but Dundalk were made to pay for failing to extend their lead.

Deep into stoppage time, Gareth McElroy pounced after a defensive mistake to score the equaliser and hand Sligo a valuable point.

The result leaves the Bit O' Red at the foot of the table on goal difference, while Dundalk's struggles to hold onto winning positions continued.
