Connacht will give their captain, Suncroft native Cian Prendergast every opportunity to be fit for Saturday’s Challenge Cup quarter-final against Racing 92 in Galway.
The 25-year-old missed last weekend’s 35-20 victory over Cardiff due to a head injury sustained in the URC match against Munster in Castlebar, which also saw Alex Nanikvell receive a red card.
According to the Irish Independent, stand-in head coach Cullie Tucker, remains hopeful that Prendergast will be cleared to play.
“He's working through his protocols, so we just need to get the outcome of that first. He's in good form and training well. We're optimistic about it,” said Tucker.
“The process takes 12 days, and he has to meet certain markers every day. Our medical team is excellent at monitoring that, and I rely on their guidance. So far, everything is progressing positively,” Tucker added.
The game kicks off at 8pm on Saturday evening.
