Galway won in Newbridge by 4-22 to 1-22 despite a strong performance.
Kildare travel to Kilkenny next weekend.
Elsewhere in the Leinster hurling championship, Dublin beat Wexford by 2-21 to 22 points.
Today, Offaly lost to Kilkenny by 1-10 to 12 points in the other Round 3 fixture.
The Kildare minor hurlers lost their semi-final against Offaly by 4-12 to 2-14.
In football, Kerry won against Cork in the Munster football final by 1-23 to 1-15.
And in the Connacht final, Roscommon take on Galway at quarter past four.
Round 1 of the Tailteann Cup continues today.
Sligo lost to Tipperary 1-12 to 17 points. Then Carlow lost to Antrim in extra-time by 5-17 to 2-25.
Laois lost to Wicklow by 1-23 to 19 points, and London beat Waterford by 5-12 to 10 points.
And Fermanagh lost to Longford by 1-11 to 1-10.
Soccer
In the Premier League today, Burnley vs Aston Villa, Crystal Palace vs Everton, and Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle, all ended in draws.
Then at half-past four, West Ham play league leaders Arsenal.
The Scottish Premiership title race is still very tight.
Hearts drew 1-all with Motherwell yesterday. Celtic won 3-nil against Rangers today.
Rugby
In the Women's Six Nations today, Ireland beat Wales 33 points to 12 in Belfast last night.
England were 61-33 winners over Italy, while France defeated Scotland 69-28.
In the URC, Leinster beat the Lions 31 points to 7.
Connacht defeated Munster 26 points to 7 to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Golf
In golf, Rory McIlroy is tied for 37th after three rounds of the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow.
The Masters champion shot a four-over-par roun d of 74 yesterday and is one under par overall, thirteen shots behind leader Matt Fitzpatrick.
Racing
In racing, there were meetings today in Cork and Leopardstown from 1 o'clock.
