Soccer

In the Premier League, Arsenal are top of the table after a 2-nil win away to Sunderland last night.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest won 2-1 at Aston Villa, while Ipswich beat Crystal Palace 3-2.

Liverpool and Fulham, Bournemouth and Brentford, all finished scoreless.

Chelsea and Hull, Tottenham and Everton all ended in draws.

There are two games today, Coventry play Brighton at 2 o’clock.

Then at half-four, Manchester United are home to unbeaten Manchester City at Old Trafford for the Manchester derby (dar-bee).

Golf

In golf, Shane Lowry begins his search of a first Irish Open title since he won as an amateur in 2009.

Tom McKibbin is nicely placed in a tie for fourth on 7 under.

Tennis

Elena Rybakina has the first US Open title of her tennis career after victory over Aryna Sabalenka.

The second seed got past the two-time defending champion in three sets in an enthralling final at Flushing Meadows.

Racing
