The ROI Under 17's Suffer A Disappointing End To Their World Cup Campaign Today

Colin O'Brien's side were beaten 3-1 by Switzerland in their last-16 clash in Doha.

The Republic of Ireland under-17 have suffered a disappointing end to their World Cup campaign today.

Colin O'Brien's side were beaten 3-1 by Switzerland in their last-16 clash in Doha - Shamrock Rovers striker and Ellistown's Michael Noonan the scorer of their goal.

This evening, it's the turn of the Ireland under-21s.

After defeat to England on Friday, Jim Crawford's side go away to Andorra for their latest European Championship qualifier, with kick off at 6.30pm.

The senior men's squad will be keeping a close eye on two of tonight's World Cup qualifiers.

Heimir Hallgrimsson's side will be in Pot 2 for the playoffs in March, if Austria avoid defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

They also need Wales not to win at home to North Macedonia, to secure home advantage in the playoff semi-final.

Those two games kick-off at 7.45 while at the same time in Glasgow, Scotland can secure automatic qualification with a home win against Denmark.
