17 year-old Republic of Ireland underage international Evan Ferguson scored one goal and set up another as Brighton beat Forest Green Rovers 3-0 in the Carabao Cup last night.

Brighton will now go to Arsenal in the third round.

Among the pick of the other ties, Manchester City will face Chelsea, Manchester United are to host Aston Villa and champions Liverpool are to take on Derby.

A 1-0 victory for Rangers away to PSV Eindhoven has sent the Glasgow club into today's Champions League Group stage draw.

It's the first time Rangers will be in the hat since 2010.

They'll be joined by Celtic, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The draw takes place at 5pm in Istanbul.

At Tallaght Stadium tonight, Shamrock Rovers enter their Europa League play-off with Ferencvaros, 4-0 down from the first leg.

Whatever happens, the Hoops do have the consolation of Europa Conference League Group stage football.

Kick off is at 8pm.

 

In the Conference League play-offs, West Ham bring a 3-1 cushion to Denmark where they play Viborg.

Linfield are tied at 2 goals apiece with Latvian club RFS ahead of their match at Windsor Park.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United are understood to be on the verge of signing Swedish international striker Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for €70 million.

GOLF

Rory McIlroy is in the field for the Tour Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour season in Atlanta.

The Fed Ex Cup is up for grabs, and because he's the points leader, world number one Scottie Scheffler will start the tournament from 10 under par, two shots clear of the field.

David Carey, Niall Kearney, Paul Dunne, James Sugrue, Cormac Sharvin and Jonathan Caldwell are in the line up for the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour in Switzerland.
