Thomas Tuchel's side came from behind to beat DR Congo 2-1 in Atlanta.

Next up for England is a meeting with tournament co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday night.

Youri Tielemans converted a penalty in the dying minutes of extra-time, as Belgium came back from 2-0 down to beat Senegal 3-2, and the USA are through to the next round, after a 2-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in Santa Clara.

This evening, European champions Spain are up against Austria in Los Angeles from 8pm, while it's a midnight start for Portugal against Croatia in Toronto.

RUGBY

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has named his team for Saturday's Nations Championship opener against Australia in Sydney.

There are four changes from the side that beat Scotland in the Six Nations back in March,

Suncroft brothers Sam Prendergast and Cian Prendergast come into the team, along with James Ryan and full-back Hugo Keenan starting for Ireland for the first time in over a year.

The Ireland under-20s will look to bounce back from opening-day defeat at the World Championship in Georgia.

Andrew Browne's side are up against Argentina in Tbilisi from 12.30pm Irish Time.
