SOCCER

Leading FIFA figures have "reaffirmed their full support" for President Gianni Infantino, according to a statement on the governing body's website.

An emergency meeting was held in Morocco yesterday - after widespread anger over his now-ditched plans to sell-off stakes in the World Cup.

But reports today claim he's offering the 2030 World Cup final to Morocco, in exchange for their backing in next year's presidential election.

 

Shelbourne take on Ajax  in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie in the Conference League tonight.

The Dutch giants could call upon new signings Julian Brandt and Marc-Andre ter Stegen against John Russell's side.

Kick-off in Amsterdam is at 7pm - Irish Time.

 

Bohemians are also in action against Danish side Midtjylland this evening.

Tallaght Stadium is the home venue for Bohs tonight, with Dalymount Park unsuitable due to UEFA regulations.

That first leg shows a 7:45pm kick-off.

 

Shelbourne closed the gap on leaders Athlone Town to three points in the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division last night.

They were 3-0 winners over bottom side Cork City at Tolka Park.

 

GOLF

It's day one of the Wyndham Championship today - the final event of the PGA Tour's regular season

Waterford's Seamus Power is the only Irish golfer taking part

He tees off at around 6:40pm this evening

 

LIV Golf has secured new investors, ensuring the controversial tour's survival until at least 2030.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund withdrew their support for the tour earlier this year, raising serious doubts over its future.

Chief executive Scott O'Neil announced yesterday that a "lead investor" has come on board, but didn't reveal any further details on their identity.

 

RACING

There's a seven race card in Leopardstown this evening and the going is good to firm-good in places

The first race goes to post at 4.50pm.

There's also a seven race card in Sligo, where the first race goes to post at 4.40pm.
