There were games last night across the future ticketing minor hurling championships in the A grade;

Eire Og Chorra Choill 3-22 Maynooth 2-11

St Cocas 1-6 Naas 2-23

Micheál Cahill has been put forward as the new manager of the Limerick senior footballers.

The county board are on the hunt for a successor to Jimmy Lee, who stepped down earlier this month.

Cahill has been proposed to take over on an initial two-year term, subject to ratification in October.

Soccer

Republic of Ireland captain Dara O'Shea stresses that the decision on whether or not to fulfil fixtures "should never be made by the players." They kick off another Nations League campaign this evening, taking on Kosovo in Albania.

Much of the buildup has been overshadowed by the upcoming pair of fixtures against Israel, beginning on Sunday.

In the other games tonight, the Netherlands and Germany renew their rivalry in Amsterdam,

Cristiano Ronaldo will earn his 234th cap for Portugal, who welcome Wales to Lisbon.

Erling Haaland's Norway host their Scandinavian rivals Denmark.
 

Katie McCabe started for Chelsea, who held on to beat Austria Vienna 1-nil in their first match of this season's Women's Champions League.

Wieke Kaptein scored the only goal of the game.

The WSL club suffered an injury blow, with midfielder Keira Walsh forced off in the first half.

Boxing

Jon McConnell secured Ireland's first medal of the European Elite Boxing Championships in Sofia yesterday

The Belfast boxer lost his semi-final to Azerbaijan's Nabi Isgandarov last night, but still earns a bronze medal.

Michaela Walsh qualified for the featherweight semi-final after beating home favourite Stainimira Petrova.

She has guaranteed herself at least a bronze medal, and faces Hungary's Kukhta Vlagyszlava in today's evening session.

Elsewhere, Lisa O'Rourke qualified for the light-heavyweight final after winning by unanimous decision against Ukraine's Iryna Lutsak.

She will box for gold this evening against former world champion Anastasiia Demurchian of Russia.

Lisa's sister Aoife also qualified for the gold-medal fight at middleweight, beating Saltanat Medenova last night.

Racing

It's Day Five of the Listowel Harvest Festival.
