GAELIC GAMES

Former GAA President Sean McCague has died.

The Monaghan native served from 2000 until 2003 and under his watch - Rule 21 - which saw British and Northern Irish security forces banned from the Association - was abolished.

The Scotstown clubman also managed the Monaghan senior football team to Ulster success in 1979 and 1985.

SOCCER

Uruguay and South Korea have just kicked off their World Cup Group H match in Qatar.

Liverpool's Darwin Nunez and ex-Red Luis Suarez start up front for the South Americans, while Spurs forward Heung Min Son plays for South Korea after receiving treatment for a fractured eye socket.

The other Group H game kicks off at 4 - it's between Portugal and Ghana.

Cristiano Ronaldo should feature for the Portuguese.

Ghana have the former Republic of Ireland player and coach Chris Hughton as part of their backroom team.

In Group G, Switzerland have beaten Cameroon 1-0.

Breel Embolo scored the only goal of the game, sweeping the ball home from close range in the 48th minute.

Today's other Group G fixture involves Brazil and Serbia from 7pm.

Brazil are tournament favourites but haven't won the competition in 20 years, while Serbia have never reached the knockout stage of a World Cup since the break up of the former Yugoslavia.

Republic of Ireland international Aine O'Gorman has joined Shamrock Rovers from Peamount United ahead of the new season next year.

Rovers are a new club in the Women's National League.

O'Gorman was top scorer in the League last season - she has been capped 114 times for the national team.
