The early groupings are out on course for Day One of the Irish Open at Doonbeg.

Kilkenny's Mark Power is the first Irish player in action this morning - he's just teed off his opening round.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy gets his opening round underway at 1:35, with Shane Lowry out ten minutes later.

And it's a 9:40 start for Padraig Harrington, who's playing at his 31st Irish Open this week.

Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the season by opening their Champions League campaign with a 1-nil win away at Napoli.

Captain Martin Odegaard scored the only goal for last season's runners-up.

Liverpool also got off to a winning start, coming from behind at Anfield to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1.

Manchester United make their return to the Champions League tonight after an absence of almost three years.

They host surprise qualifiers Sabah at Old Trafford from 8.

Chelsea came from behind to beat Leeds United 6-3 in a thrilling EFL Cup third-round tie at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer scored twice after coming off the bench, while Danny Welbeck also helped himself to a brace in the nine-goal encounter.

Chelsea will discover their fourth-round opponents when the draw is made next Wednesday.

TENNIS

Coco Gauff fought from a set down to book her place in the US Open semi-finals.

The fourth seed needed to save two match points to beat French Open champion Mirra Andreeva.

Gauff will face Elena Rybakina in the last-four - she won the deciding set against Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen.

That result also propels Rybakina to top spot in the World Rankings.

In the men's draw, top seed Alexander Zverev eased past Botic van der Zandschulp in straight sets.

That sets up a semi-final meeting with Karen Khachanov who progressed from his quarter-final after opponent Alexander Blockx was forced to retire.
