Kildare GAA and St. Laurences mourn death of John Joe Walsh; U20 and minor football teams announced; Champions League tonight; James Ryan's new IRFU contract

Kildare GAA and St. Laurences are mourning the unexpected death of John Joe Walsh.

In an extensive tribute on social media, the club said the Mayo native gave a lifetime of service to the club, to Kildare GAA as a selector under three managers, as Leinster council delegate and PRO and as Central Council delegate.

John Joe, also, represented Mayo, Westmeath and Kildare on the playing field

Another busy week for Kildare football and hurling teams.

Tonight the U20 footballers are in Louth to play the home county in a Leinster quarter fnal at 7.30

Tomorrow evening the minor footballers are away to Longford at 7.30

Kfm will have live updates of tonight’s U20 and tomorrow night’s minor games.

On Sunday, the county senior hurlers play Offaly in the Joe McDonagh Cup at a venue to be decided.

Kildare have home venue, but Kfm understands that the venue has had visits from Gardai and from Croke Park regarding the suitability of Hawkfield hosting inter-county games.

Also on Sunday, the women footballers play Clare in the Division 3 Lidl Ladies League final in Parnell Park.

Kfm will have commentary of the ladies final.

The U20 and minor teams have been announced and are elsewhere on the website.

The visitors take on the world's number one team in Missouri in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Ireland lost the first friendly between the sides by 2 goals to nil last Saturday.

The German takes his Bayern Munich side to the Etihad for their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City.

Kick off is at 8 o'clock.

At the same time, Inter are in Portugal for a meeting with Benfica.

James Ryan says the 'ambition' of Leinster and Ireland is one of the reasons he signed a contract extension.

The second-row has agreed a new deal with the IRFU until the summer of 2025.
