Belfast's Aidan Walsh will box for a medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday.

He's through to the welterweight quarter-finals after getting a unanimous decision over Cameroon's Albert Mengue.

Earlier today, Mona McSharry became the first Irish swimmer to compete in an Olympics final for a quarter of a century.

The 20-year-old from Sligo placed eighth in the 100-metres breaststroke and says she'll use it as a learning experience for the Paris Games in 2024.

Irish sailors Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove in the 49er event. claimed victory in the first of 12 races - with the second pushed back to tomorrow due to poor weather conditions.

Annalise Murphy the 2016 silver medallist has kept her hopes alive with two top 10 finishes today.

She is now up to 20th place overall after six races.

Lions head-coach Warren Gatland has made three changes for Saturday's second Test against South Africa.

Conor Murray, Chris Harris and Mako Vunipola come into the starting line-up, with Elliot Daly, Ali Price and Rory Sutherland dropping to the bench.

Murray starts at scrum-half with his Ireland teammates Tadhg Furlong, Robbie Henshaw and Jack Conan all retaining their places. Eadestown’s Tadhg Beirne is among the replacements.

Kevin Lahiff has been brought in at centre-half-forward with Liam Dunne dropping to the bench.
