RUGBY

Dan Leavy is to retire from rugby with immediate effect.

The 27 year old Leinster and Ireland back row forward suffered a serious knee injury in March 2019 and has been advised to retire on medical grounds.

Leavy made 79 appearances for Leinster since his debut in October 2014 and was a key part of the Champions Cup winning side of 2018.

He was also capped 11 times for Ireland and won the Grand Slam at Twickenham in 2018.

SOCCER

In the Champions League tonight, Liverpool are away to Benfica in the first leg of their quarter final.

Kick off at the Stadium of Light is at 8pm.

At the same stage of the competition, Manchester City host Atletico Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.

It's also an 8pm start.

In the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division tonight, Sligo Rovers host Bohemians at the Showgrounds.

Kick off is at 7.45.

GOLF

Five time winner Tiger Woods looks to be on course to compete at the Masters after playing a practice round at Augusta yesterday.

The tee times for the opening two rounds will be released today.

Waterford's Seamus Power will make his debut, with Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry the other Irish players in the line up.

AUSTRALIAN RULES

Tipperary's Orla O'Dwyer has been named on the AFLW All Australian team for 2022.

It's the first ever time an Irish AFLW Player has received the honour.

O'Dwyer plays for the Brisbane Lions.

HORSE RACING

Trainer Nicky Henderson has revealed star two mile chaser 'Shishkin' has been diagnosed with a bone condition and will miss the rest of the jumps season.

The horse was pulled up when favourite for the Champion Chase at Cheltenham last month.
