John Egan remains the biggest injury doubt for the Republic of Ireland ahead of Thursday's European Championship qualifier against France in Paris.

He's awaiting the results of a scan after going off with a knock while playing for Sheffield United on Saturday.

Leixlip's Andrew Omobamidele has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against France and Netherlands, as a replacement.

Midfielder Josh Cullen says he's put the mistake he made against France back in March behind him.

His misplaced pass allowed Benjamin Pavard in to score the only goal of the game in Dublin.

Brazil have dropped Manchester United winger Antony from their squad following allegations of domestic abuse against the 23 year old.

The player's former girlfriend has accused Antony of assault on more than one occasion.

Antony maintains the accusations are false and he is innocent.

The Brazilian FA says the incident 'needs to be investigated'.

Sarah Lavin set a new national record in the 100 metres in a race in Switzerland last night.

She ran 11 point 2-7 seconds to come under Phil Healy's previous mark by one hundredth of a second.

Limerick sprinter Lavin recently became Ireland's fastest ever women's 100 metres hurdler by breaking Derval O'Rourke's best at the World Championships in Budapest.

At the US Open in New York, defending men's singles champion Carlos Alcaraz is into the quarter finals.

He was a straight sets winner over Matteo Arnaldi and will now play Alexander Zverev in the last eight.

Zverev edged Jannik Sinner in five sets at Flushing Meadows.

Jessica Pegula and Ons Jabeur have been knocked out of the women's singles.
